*Please Note* Entrance fees to Petra rose dramatically to $138. For people spending one night in Jordan the cost will be considerably less. We are recommending clients to consider taking the two day Israel to Petra and Jordan tour (Petra and Wadi Rum), which was always a better option than the one day tour to Petra. The lower cost of the entrance fees for those spending the night in Petra covers a significant part of the difference between the two Petra tours.

Jordan - Petra One Day Tour (Jordan tours)
Firstly a little word about why Desert Eco Tours is the number one choice for visitors to Petra and Jordan from Israel. We are Israel's leading tour operator from Israel to Petra and unlike the other companies we do not pool our tours with other operators, all our tours are exclusively Desert Eco Tours. Booking with us means means an early start for getting to and through the border first and avoiding the inevitable delays that the pooled companies must face, this gives our clients an average of one hour more touring Petra. Our permanent Jordanian tour staff are selected by us and operate according to our guidelines. Apart from having the best guides available we also use the services of Jordan's leading tour bus company for maximum comfort on route. On our two day Petra and Wadi Rum tours we spend a whole day exploring the highlights of the spectacular Wadi Rum (8 hours) in new, 4x4, air-conditioned vehicles driven by our local Bedouin English speaking staff. The ancient jeeps commonly used in the Rum by smaller tour operators are often driven by local youngsters and spend a maximum of 4 hours touring the Rum itself.
Petra day trip from Eilat - Israel: Departing daily this tour begins early morning at the Eilat hotels and heads to the border between Eilat and Jordan. We enter Jordan and continue on to Petra. |
We arrive at Petra's visitor's center mid-morning. From there we walk to the Siq canyon which is the main entrance to Petra and one of Petra's most impressive sights. The walk through the Siq takes approximately 1/2 hour before that breathtaking experience of first stepping foot in Petra is upon us. Counted as one of the wonders of the world, Petra is an archaeological, anthropological and geological phenomenon. Your guide will share with you the legends, truths and myths of this incredible city. We explore all the major sites and ruins on the route. The walk through Petra is made easy by the endless sights and fascinating facts, all of which bring to life a history as colorful as the sandstone rock from which it was carved. Having explored the highlights of Petra, we walk back to the entrance; participants may choose to hire the services of the local donkey, camel and carriage drivers for this final part of the tour. Following the tour we have a late but hearty buffet lunch, then rejoin our mini-bus for the return journey to Eilat, arriving by evening.

We offer a wide selection of hotels just minutes away from Eilat in the town of Aqaba on the Red Sea, we also include transportation to each of the hotels. Visitors who choose to stay in Aqaba benefit from lower room rates than those staying in Eilat, more time experiencing Jordan and a more comfortable morning pick-up time for the Petra tour itself. Jordan - Wadi Rum One Day Tour

This unique Jordan tour leaves early morning from the Rabin border crossing where we enter into the Kingdom of Jordan. Here we board our 4X4 jeep, driven by professional Bedouin drivers (self-drive available) and ride to Aqaba. From here its onto Jordans legendary sandstone area of Wadi Rum. The enchanting Wadi Rum is an area almost surreal in its distinctive beauty. We cross red sand dunes and explore the beautifully eroded pillars of sandstone rock, amongst the natural attractions are what have become known as ‘The Seven Pillars. It was this area of Wadi Rum that so inspired T E Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia). Wadi Rums beauty remains intact and its breathtaking scenery is still an inspiration for those who travel there. We visit the famous spring at ‘Haz Ali and the Hanging Arch. We also drive along the rarely visited but equally stunning trails just beside the Saudi Arabian border. Back to Eilat by evening. Lunch is included on the tour as is a visit to the Bedouin camp of Rum for tea and coffee.

Jordan - Petra and Wadi Rum 2 Day Tour (Jordan tours)
First Day - This Petra and Wadi Rum tour leaves Eilat early morning for the Rabin crossing where we enter Jordan. Here we board 4X4 jeeps, driven by professional Bedouin drivers and journey to the sandstone area of Wadi Rum. We go off-road into its unique landscape and get off the beaten track to explore rarely traveled ancient merchant routes. Lunch is enjoyed outdoors. We continue off-road through the Rum and by evening reach a Bedouin hospitality camp, here we enjoy our evening meal and settle for the night in a guest tent*. In Wadi Rum we have the opportunity to witness the awe-inspiring Arabian night-skies and the enchanting views of Wadi Rum.
Second Day- Following breakfast with the Bedouins we board our 4X4s and head for the road to Petra. At the modern entrance to the ancient site we leave our vehicles and commence the walk (horses optional) to the imposing Siq Canyon. A 1/2 hr walk through its towering canyon walls leads us into Petra. We tour the lost city on foot, exploring the main archeological sights. We stop for a refreshing buffet lunch at a restaurant within the site. Following lunch we commence the walk back to our vehicles at Petras entrance. Participants may hire the services of the traditional transport providers (mules, camels and horse-drawn carriages) along the way. We reach Eilat by evening.

Jordan - 2 day tour to Petra only
The tour begins with the one day tour from Eilat, while the tour group has to return early after visiting Petra, you have the rest of the day to continue through Petra at your leisure. After the first day in Petra you head to your hotel or Bedouin camp in the nearby Wadi Mousa.
Day two is a free day in Petra, exploring yet more of the major sites that the one-day tour does not cover such as El Dir (Monastery) and the High Place of Sacrifice. Today you tour Petra independently (no guide) until afternoon, then you meet our tour staff and are driven back to Eilat.
Price: $369 p.p, children under 12: $299

Jordan - Petra, Jerash, Mount Nebo & Madaba 2 Day Tour
Day 1- This tour begins early morning in Eilat or Israel and Jordans northern crossings. We enter Jordan and meet our Jordanian tour staff. A 2 hour drive takes us to Petra for a full day tour of Petra (see Petra One Day tour). We spend the night near ancient Petra at 3 or 5* hotel.
Day 2- Driving north from Petra we tour Jerash, Madaba and Mount Nebo. Leaving Jordan for Israel at Eilat or at the Sheik Hussein border.
