Sinai tours by jeeps, hiking and camels

It is a gaunt land of splintered peaks, torn valleys, and hot skies. And at every step there is the suggestion of the fierce, the defiant, the defensive. Everything within its borders seems fighting to maintain itself against destroying forces. There is a war of elements and a struggle for existence going on here that for
ferocity is unparalleled elsewhere in nature….

Egypt consists of three tour regions:
1 - What is often referred to as 'Classic Egypt', from the Nile delta, Cairo along the Nile through Luxor, Aswan and onto Abu Simbel in the far south. It is by far the most inhabited part of Egypt, with the most towns and historic sites.
2 - The Western Desert, (Eastern Sahara Desert) encompassing the White Desert, The Black Desert, The Great Sand Sea and other desert regions. Using GPS and satellite technology we operate, along with Egyptian specialist Heisham Nissim, the furthest reaching tours in this area.
3 - The Sinai Peninsula, an incredibly diverse area of spectacular beaches, high range granite mountain area including Mt Sinai - the highest mountain in Egypt and site of Saint Catherine's Monastery (UNESCO) and the picturesque sandstone area.
It is important when thinking of Egypt, that we do not forget that Egypt is a developing country. It has a rich and sometimes stark culture. As a tourist in Egypt you will witness a contrast between wealth and poverty not found in the west. Although we endeavor to use the very best of the facilities available us, travelers must bear in mind that Western standard facilities are not always available and accept they are in a mainly Muslim country with different mentality and social behavior.
As a tourist you will automatically attract attention from people selling their wares. Frequently these people will try to put your guide in an uncomfortable situation. Be polite and assertive, there is to need get upset from over-eager venders. They are simply playing their part in a longstanding tradition.

Dress - At religious sites for both men and women: long clothes covering shoulders, elbows and knees are necessary,. In fact when touring in Egypt it is advisable to wear loose long cotton clothing when out and about. It's comfortable, cool, protects you from the sun's rays and always culturally appropriate. When at hotel pools or at the beaches you can don't your bikini - don't go topless though.
It is important to remember when booking with Desert Eco Tours that we pride ourselves in enabling our clients to truly get an earthy and authentic travel experience in the land and culture they our visiting, be it Israel, Jordan or Egypt. We experience the culture, visiting the hidden treasures off the tourist track, meeting locals and getting a truly personal perspective on the land and its inhabitants. Egypt can be a little more demanding than Israel and Jordan, but the rewards are great.
