Adding another day to your Cairo- Luxor trip, by flights
Abu Simbel is a temple complex, originally cut into a solid rock cliff, in southern
Egypt and located at the second cataract of the Nile River. The two temples which
comprise the site (The Great Temple and The Small Temple) were created during
the reign of Ramesses II. The complex is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site,
The complex was relocated in its entirety in 1968, on an artificial hill made from a
domed structure, high above the Aswan High Dam reservoir. The relocation of the
temples was necessary or they would have been submerged during the creation
of Lake Nasser.

Climbing Mt Sinai for sunrise and visit the Monastery of St. Catherine
Mount Sinai is believed to be the biblical ’Mount Horeb’, the mountain on which Mosses received the Ten Commandments.
It is one of the Highest Mountain in the Sinai Peninsula and a very popular attraction. Visitors to Mount Sinai traditionally
walk up the mountain in time for the sunrise; this tradition began hundreds of years ago with the first intrepid travelers
visiting there and continues on to this day. The spectacular views from the summit are legendary and as the sun casts its
first light across the mountain peaks it is easy to see why the mountain is so revered.
St Catherine's’ Monastery is one of the oldest monasteries in Christianity. The monastery is a walled fortress that was built
around the ’Burning Bush’ between the years 548-565 AD. Despite its rich and eventful history Saint Catherine’s monastery
was never destroyed and is a remarkably well preserved historic site.
